I love it when the TV’s off
And no one’s even speaking
No music needs to fill my ears,
No bass, midrange or squeaking.
Now I can really hear real life,
When there’s a break from words.
Soft fan, soft traffic, humming fridge,
Footsteps, dogs and birds.
